Cortona DOC is a red wine with a rich ruby red colour that tends to garnet with ageing. It has an intense and elegant aroma, with hints of ripe red fruits, spices and a delicate note of vanilla. On the palate, it is full-bodied, harmonious and velvety, with a good tannic structure and a persistent finish.

History

The Cortona DOC was established in 1999, but the tradition of winemaking in the Cortona area dates back to Etruscan times. The vineyards are cultivated on the sunny hillsides of the Cortona area, which has a rich winemaking history. This DOC recognition is a testament to the high-quality grapes and the meticulous winemaking process followed in this region.

Geographical Production Area

Cortona DOC is produced in the Cortona area in the province of Arezzo, in the Tuscany region. The vineyards are planted on the sunny slopes of the Cortona hills, at altitudes ranging from 250 to 500 meters above sea level. The climate here is Mediterranean, with hot, dry summers and mild, wet winters. The soil is mainly clayey and sandy, which is particularly suitable for the cultivation of Syrah and other grape varieties used in the production of Cortona DOC.
