Carmignano DOCG is an exquisite red wine known for its deep ruby color along with an intense aroma of red fruits, spices, and hints of oak. On the palate, it exhibits an excellent balance of tannins and acidity which gives it a full-bodied and robust character. The taste is complex and rich with notes of black cherries, plums, and a hint of earthiness that lingers in the finish.

History

Carmignano DOCG dates back to the times of the ancient Roman era and it has been appreciated since the Middle Ages. The wine gained its DOCG status in 1990. It was traditionally known for being blended with Sangiovese, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Canaiolo, a practice that was even legalized by Cosimo III De' Medici, Grand Duke of Tuscany, in 1716.
