History Verdiso, a grape hailing from the Euganean Hills region, has a rich and long-standing history that dates back to the early 18th century. Although its presence in its place of origin has decreased over time, it has found a new home in the Conegliano-Valdobbiadene area. The grape's high yield made it a preferred choice over other varieties, despite the quality of the juice being slightly compromised.
Its resilience and adaptability have ensured its survival and growth in this region, contributing to the variety and richness of the local viticulture.
Ampelographic features The Verdiso grape is easily distinguished by its medium-sized, pentagonal leaves that are almost equal in length. The leaves are either whole or trilobata, with a slightly lobed upper surface and a flat or slightly folded underside. The leaves are light green in color, smooth and thin, with a hint of red at the base.
The bunches are medium-sized, 15-20 cm long, with medium compactness. The grapes themselves are more than medium in size, with a slightly elixidal shape and a green-yellowish skin. The flesh is juicy and soft, leading to a pleasant mouthfeel when consumed.
Characteristics of the wine Verdiso wine is characterized by a beautiful straw yellow hue. Upon tasting, it presents a fresh and fruity profile, with a light body. The wine's palate is refreshing, making it an excellent choice for a summer aperitif or pairing with light meals. Its fruity notes lend a delightful sweetness that balances the overall flavor profile.
