History The Nosiola grape traces its roots back to the Trentino region of Italy. Its cultivation is believed to have started as early as the 19th century, making it one of the oldest white grape varieties in the region. The name 'Nosiola' is thought to have been derived from 'nocciola', the Italian word for hazelnut, which is indicative of the grape's distinct hazelnut-like color at maturity.
Ampelographic features The Nosiola vine exhibits medium-sized, three-lobed, pentagonal leaves with rather deep lateral sinuses. The leaf color is a dark green, with yellowish ribs. The bunch is elongated and compact, typically measuring between 15-20 cm in length. The berries are medium in size, spheroidal in shape with a pruinose, yellow-greenish skin that glistens gold under sunlight. The flesh is juicy with a neutral flavor.
Characteristics of the wine Wine produced from Nosiola grapes exhibits a radiant straw-yellow color. It has a robust and fruity aroma, characterized by notes of apple and hazelnut. On the palate, it displays a harmonious balance between fresh and warm nuances, offering a medium-bodied structure.
