This grape was noted for its unique characteristics by expert ampelographer Molon in 906. Historically, Favorita was used as a table grape due to its appealing taste and texture.
Ampelographic features The Favorita grape exhibits distinct ampelographic features. Its leaf is medium to large, pentagonal with a quinquelobate structure. The leaf's upper surface is devoid of any hair, boasting a bottle-green color.
The grape bunches are medium to large in size, often pyramidal or cylindrical in shape. The berries are spheroid with a thick, pruinose skin, and exhibit an intense amber yellow color.
Characteristics of the wine Wines produced from the Favorita grape variety are known for their light and crisp character. They often exhibit a pale straw color with greenish reflections. On the nose, they express floral and fruity notes, with a hint of apple and pear. On the palate, these wines are dry, fresh, and harmonious, making them a popular choice for aperitifs.
