Alcamo DOC is a white wine with a delicate, fresh and fruity aroma. The taste is dry, harmonious, and velvety. It is characterized by a medium body and a balanced acidity which makes it wonderfully refreshing. Often you can taste notes of apple, peach, and a hint of citrus in this wine.

History

The history of Alcamo DOC dates back to ancient times, when the Greeks introduced viticulture to Sicily. However, it wasn't until 1972 when Alcamo was awarded the DOC status, making it one of the first in Sicily to receive this recognition. The wineries in this region have a long tradition of wine production, and they continue to uphold these methods while also incorporating modern techniques.

Geographical Production Area

Alcamo DOC is produced in the town of Alcamo, which is located in the province of Trapani in western Sicily. The region is characterized by its hilly terrain and Mediterranean climate, with hot summers and mild winters. The vineyards are typically grown on slopes at altitudes between 200-600 meters above sea level. The soil is mainly calcareous and mineral-rich, which contributes to the unique taste of the wine.
